I have a client on Advanced Sage 100 with 20 users. They are finalizing an acquisition that will double their size to 40 users. What is the largest number of users you have on Sage 100 and how is the performance? Reporting today for consolidated is on BizNet and it is already slow. The secondary question would be, should I consider SQL in this situation? I know there is a love hate of SQL.

We have several that are 40 - 50 users with Advanced. Performance is dependent in these cases more on the network configuration. SQL would not be a significant factor in most cases. One of our 50-user systems is in 8 locations and is hosted on I-BN and runs fine, but that is also Citrix access. Technical/network members respond?

I have 65 users on Advanced in 3 states. Their speed is good, but they also use a couple of Citrix servers.

65 users Sage 100 Advanced - the biggest issue initially is the product defect which will start dropping turds at about the 20-30 user mark on advanced unless you do the memory expansion trick to the registry. I think SQL has gained a lot more fans with the biggest problem being that it is not an option for anyone who needs a framework module. One of the top complaints about Sage 100 Standard is slow speed. Seems like an issue that will not go away and generally the end users don't want to hear a lecture about anti-virus and instead hope we will fess up that Sage 100 is the culprit.

I agree 40 users is not a big deal. Note as data files grow it is still all about I/O speed. You want FAST harddisks or SSD's. They give the best performance. Regarding SQL. I love SQL especially with big data. SSMS is much better than DFDM. I think Sage runs better with SQL.

65 Users, 20 Handheld Scanners and 12 Point of Sale Lanes. We do get some data oddities now and then. We have the DSD Mirror. I have heard that pure SQL through Premium has a faster IO. We are moving them to an EMC SAN based data center with flash. Overall -little complaints with speed. Most of the heavier reporting is done through the SQL Mirror. I believe that we are still limited to a single CPU for the Providex server engine. That is definitely a contributing issue in larger environments.
