I have a 5 user Sage 100 v2015 (perpetual). Their parent company is moving them to a new accounting system so they don't need 5 users. Will Sage reduce their number of licenses to 1?

Hi Wayne, they should, just did this with another company. They had to fill out the attached form to get it done.

I'm guessing that they go on the $1,700/year (perpetual) module based pricing?

Not sure, would have to check with your Sales Rep, should be all modules and 1 user at the perpetual price list times the client care package - silver = 21%, gold = 25%

Why not move them to 100c single user (need a downgrade form). It would be $540 a year. They could renew for 3 years for what they will pay in 1 for perpetual (assuming essentials). You get 30% of 540 instead of ?? on 1700. Probably net to close to the same in your pocket. Maybe a little less in your pocket. My attitude is whatever is best for the client (they may renew a little longer). Who knows. There is also $1500 tier credit for conversion if that is useful.

Good points. I went through the options with them (100 vs 100c). What I find is that the more options I give the more likely they are to chose (c) Do nothing. I need to explain the perpetual vs 100c (subscription) rules because it does make it potentially more difficult for them to drop maintenance on subscription due to read-only (I haven't yet had a 100c drop subscription so I don't know exactly what will happen but I don't trust that Sage have worked out the read-only functionality). A part of me thinks it would be a lot easier if 100c was the only way forward for anyone wanting to add/drop user licenses. I know there are probably 80 user sites that would be more $$ impacted than smaller sites. Sage should give a 1 or 2 year heads-up about the policy (no more add or remove licenses for perpetual) and in addition, should re-introduce a credit guaranteed for 3 years which equalizes Sage 100c to whatever the Sage 100 was. Moving the ""last mile"" of Sage 100 perpetual who are paying less than what 100c costs are going to be a challenge for Sage.
