I had a phone call from a consultant in Hawaii. I do not think they'll fly you there - but you never know. Apparently he has a customer that is a fishing company. So far as I can understand from our brief conversation - they need for inventory costs to be assigned after the item is sold. Also values of the inventory declines as the fish ages. If anyone has more than a passing experience with fishing type customers and wants to give this a shot - let me know and I'll provide the consultant name/number. Apparently the customer is looking at fishing software that's in the 250k range.

I believe this costing/pricing requirement is similar for distributors of fresh produce. The produce is sold/shipped first and then the price (and maybe cost) is determined later. I'll have to look into my old client list who had that requirement.

Wayne, I'm in Honolulu. I haven't worked with software in the fishing industry. I'm aware, though, of a software called SeaSoft from CAi Computer Associates. I know that it is being used by a sea food wholesaler in Honolulu.
