I had a customer on 4.5 sage 100 adv. ask if there is an easy or visual way to see if the inventory module is in a ""frozen"" state.

go into inventory physical > physical count entry if anything shows on the lines tab then those items are frozen if nothing shows then NOT.

also you could print a Inventory Variance Report.

Physical Count Variance Register. :-) That's my preferred way since it takes forever for the lines to load nowadays.

The issue arose because they think someone froze inventory without anyone knowing about it and transactions during the normal course of the day were being processed. Then still without anyone knowing, the inventory was unfrozen and then actually frozen again sometime later. Needless to say this was all done ""accidentally"" and there seems to be some issues in inventory quantities. So the act of printing a variance report wouldn not have come into play if they had no idea that it was frozen in the first place. So were looking for a visual that could be put in place for key people to know. As a result, rights have been severely restricted . Thanks @JimWoodhead Maybe they just need a cure for accidents.!

Simply freezing and unfreezing (not updating the physical count register) should not cause any issues with their inventory transactions. All that does is create the records in the physical count file, or delete them.

On the flip side of the equation, received a call from client that after 10 weeks, they finally have their physical inventory count ready to be uploaded (12/31) inventory. Only problem is that no one bothered to freeze the inventory on 12/31. So they have a count with nothing to compare it to................

@BethBowers But is not true that transactions can still be perfomed while it is frozen but held in ""suspense"" until unfrozen. So that if you were actually trying to do a count, depending on what the transactions were, you could fluctuate the frozen numbers and be totally confused when it is refrozen? like right now lol

@RichardBryant - Well, the frozen qty is whatever the QOH is at the moment it's frozen, and the transactions aren't really in suspense - they are affecting the QOH as they happen, but they are not affecting the frozen qty. Hope this makes sense - I'm having a hard time figuring out what they think their problem is.

They have had conflicting numbers while doing cycle counts (using phys invt as tool. So, if the real QOH is never halted, what do you see in a report such as Inventory Valuation if it is run while Inventory is Frozen and where do you see the Frozen QOH if reports are not using that number?

You see quantity on hand including all transactions to date on the inventory valuation report. The frozen quantity is just captured in memory for use in determining the physical count variance.

The frozen qty is a field in the Physical Count file.

So the only place to view frozen qty is on the variance register?
