I had a conference call this morning with a Sage 100 v4.4 Advanced user. They have maybe 6 concurrent users doing GLAP. Complaining about sudden slowdown entering the system since about November. My first suggestion is anti-virus. Naturally that couldn't be the cause. Once they exclude the files on server and workstation, are there other system files which could cause this slowdown? I'm thinking sy0ctl, maybe the activity log size?

Might be worthwhile checking the SOTAMAS90 driver to see if by chance the debug log is turned on. I've seen that in the past and that log file can become very large. Could be causing a slowdown.

What else is running on the server? Did they load something new?

All workstations? How's the performance directly at the server? When was the server rebooted last?

Check the PEP setting in Administrator setup and make sure it is off.

Is it just launching Sage or is it both launching Sage and then using it? Along with the other suggestions, find out if their workstation AV is running scans during the day.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I logged in today and reviewed this user's computer. I was able to run in MAS90 mode on the server with no issues. The customer perceives that there is a slowdown with the workstation which appears to be limited to the time it takes to launch the crystal viewer and render the report. I can navigate screen to screen and enter in report parameters and the report works in what I would deem a fast manner (no delay). The only delay (which is debatable) is the time it takes to render the preview of the report. Compared to speed on my local computer - seems comparable. My local copy of Sage is neither faster or slower. - Disabled PEP - ODBC debug turned off - Turned off AV (Norton) - unsure whether this was disabled on the server as the IT is 9 million percent sure it could never be this - Tried CS ODBC - doesn't seem to make a difference Ultimately I can only notice a very slight issue with speed so I'm ""pulling the rip cord"" and told the customer I'll help them open a case with Sage and we will walk through with the Sage rep for a second opinion. The customer is absolutely emphatic that this is an issue to be corrected. Throwing to Sage.

Is this a specific custom report OR one of the standard GL / AP reports off the Reports menu? If custom, is either the _Page N of M_ or _Total Page Count_ fields being used? If so, try removing that. Those fields don't affect the overall speed of the report but it does cause Page 1 to appear slower because Crystal has to process/paginate all the pages before showing you Page 1.

Unfortunately, it's just the standard reports. I can't really see any difference in speed so I'm going to let the customer talk to Sage and debate whether it's slow or not.
