I don't think I've run into this question before, but it seems like it might be a common question so I'll throw it out there to see if anyone else has done this. Is there a way to allow a user access to just one financial report (from general ledger financial reports?) We have a custom trend report that they want one user to run but they don't want that user to run other custom financial statements such as the balance sheet etc. I can probably create the report in crystal if I need to but.....

Just put the report into its own group, then you can run it by itself instead of with the other reports.

How would you restrict access to only that group?

Another more labor intense way would be via section suppression based on the user printing the report...

Oh, missed the part about ""allowing access"". Yes, financial reports doesn't restrict access.

ok thought I'd check to verify - I could not find a way - I'll create a crystal instead

Using @JeffSchwenk's logic, you could possibly have blank pages for reports which that user shouldn't have access to. May be a bit cumbersome but using Crystal for GL is also quite cumbersome IMHO.

The problem with suppressing is that you have to code ALL the other reports so that she couldn't run them. VERY ugly. I am assuming from your post that FRx and SMI are not options? Hopefully, the trend report is a P/L, not a balance sheet needing beginning balance and that the trend does not spand years..... Depending on your Access skills, this might be easier writing the query in Access (via PTQ's) then use Crystal to pull the final report.

What about unhiding the old GL custom report writer and only giving access to that one person?
