I completed an upgrade from 3.71 to 4.4 (ouch - but so good to have it done!). The only remaining issue is that it is extreamly slow to bring up tasks from within MAS 90. The workstation launches reasonably but it takes a minute to a minute and a half to bring up sales order entry. I've modified the anti-virus on the server and it is actually completely off right now on the workstation. It looks like the CPU usage is good and the networking speed is fine too. The workstation is Windows 7 and this is MAS 90 4.4.0.6. Anything else I can try?

    All workstations?

Other tasks as well or just S/O Entry?

What's the speed like directly at the server?

Turn off opportunistic locking on the workstations and the server.

As they said in the movies, ""welcome to the party pal"". Slow response on v4.50 is a well known issue. It has to do with the number of files being opened and pulled across compared to v3.71. Nothing you can really do except change to MAS200.

    Exclude m4t from antivirus?

I'd still be looking at a/v or malware software. Also seeing if other workstations had the same response. Luckily I have not run into 4.4 installs with this much of a slowdown.

Fyi, @LouisAraiza, this appears to be 4.40. As a test, I'd also completely disable AV on the server as well.

@KateKrueger, any reason you didn't install PU8? Due to Enhancements?

All things being equal the response time of v4.40 will be markablly slower than v3.71 due to the number of files being open. Just a fact of life. Yes you can do a lot to help but there will still be a difference.

Thanks for everyone's responses. All of the workstations are slow but I believe they are closer to the norm than this 1-1.5 minutes to pull up an entry screen. All of the entry screens and reports are displaying the same slowness. On the server everything is zippy. They were prepped that 4.4 is slower but this is extreme. I've done lots of upgrades and installs of 4.4 and no one is waiting that long for tasks to pop up! I've sent the request to IT to have the opportunistic locking turned off to see if that helps.

try to get them on GB connections. I see a lot of clients with newer workstations (GB network cards), still running at 100Mbps due to router, server, etc.

Last upgrade I did from 3.71 to 4.4 had the same symptoms. I edited AV, opp locking, looked at malware, added memory, tested cabling, replaced switch and manipulated connection speed. The biggest bang for my buck was changing 100MB NIC's to 1GB and adjusting AV exclusions. Also, disable shadow copy on the server if it's configured to run during business hours... and schedule server hard drive defrag (to run after hours).

Real time update to the blog by embedding a frame. I don't think I'd do all our posts this was but wanted to see what this looks like: http://community.90minds.com/2012/01/30/how-to-speed-up-mas-90-or-mas200/

The thing is you cannot run v4.40 in the same situation as v3.71, you have to make changes to account for the slowness as a result of the framework opening new files.
