I am working with a client that would like to collate sales order printing. They are printing to a HP LaserJetP4015 using the HP Universal Printing PCL 5 driver. The printer has multiple paper trays with different colored paper in each tray. We are trying to print multiple Sales Orders at a time and print sales order 1 from EACH paper tray then sales order 2 from EACH paper tray. We are using the multi-part feature in Sales order printing to direct it to different paper trays, however, it is printing all the sales orders from paper tray 1 then paper tray 2, etc. The client has to collate the sales orders manually. I have tried different settings on the printer to no avail. Any suggestions would be appreciated.I

You may try setting up a separate windows printer for each paper tray on the same printer.. ie HPTray1, HPTray2, etc. Then designate each Windows printer in multi-part for the sales order.

@DougHiggs has it right. That is my suggestion as well. You will have one physical printer but multiple virtual printers each with only one tray set up.

I tried your recommendation. I setup 3 printers and set the default trays for each. Then setup multi-part to pull from each printer with the default settings. It still did not collate. Bummer! I attached the settings from one of the printers to see if I am missing something. Appreciate your recommendations.

Are you specifying to print two copies, one to printer1 and one to printer2 in multi-part setup, assuming the trays are setup correctly for printer1 and printer2? Have you played with the collating option?

Pretty sure you need to specify the settings at the printer level, not in Crystal reports. For example, if page 2 should always print to tray 2, then configure the windows printer to only/always print page 2 to tray 2 in printer HP Tray2.

I am selecting the Multi-part checkbox and then selecting 1 copy on 3 different lines and to 3 different printers. Collating is checked on each line. Maybe I should deselect the collating checkbox there.

Idea - check on Shadow print and enter something unique for the shadow text for each printer. That may help you diagnose the issue.
