I am wondering if I am missing a setting in the ne

I am wondering if I am missing a setting in the new 2015 PO History feature. Since it is expected to work the same way as Sales Order History, I expected PO's to drop off the PO Entry screen when complete. To the contrary, they are still there and we still get the pop-up ""this po is complete..."" The completed PO also still shows up in the ALE lookups. Do I not have a setting turned on, or is this WAD and the data is just available in both places?

I think it should exist in both places but would be removed from the PO entry screen based on the setting in PO Options for ""Days to Retain Completed Purchase Orders.

Thanks @DavidOverholt but that doesn't appear to be the case. I have mine set to 0 days and I am still showing closed PO's from 2010 and just created a new one and backdated about 15 days. both still show up. I suppose you could customize the ALE lookup, but that defeats the purpose of scrolling through the PO's using the forward and backward arrows. A client pointed this out to me and said ""what is the purpose of having it live in two places other than taking up more space on my server"".

Have you done a period end processing since setting it to 0 days?

Yep, closed it out. Am currently on period 9/2010, and PO's from 5/2010 are still there. I will try closing the periods out all the way to current and report back later today.

the number of days is based on the last date of activity on the PO (at least is used to be that way). So if you did any transaction on that po using a date after 9/2010 then the PO would not get removed from the open table. I'm basing this on how it worked prior to version 2015 and the new history tables. So please do report back if you figure this out. I don't know why Sage would change that logic when they added history tables but we are talking about Sage :)

Ok, here is what I found. I closed out the periods from 5/10 all the way to current (7/15), and it removed the new PO's I created earlier today, but the ones that migrated over prior to the history files being created are still in PO Entry. So it appears to close out new ones, but not the old ones (typical this will only work going forward response). *sigh* So now I just need to figure out a way to mass delete the PO's in PO Entry (several thousand). Other than exporting and reimporting, and thoughts?

Purge obsolete Purchase orders from the purchase order utilities menu comes to mind but I think that uses the same logic that the period end purge uses, so it might not delete them either, But it might be worth a try

What is the completed date in the header table. I had about 20 PO's that were backordered that were too hard to correct via the ""recommended"" method. I imported a completed date to both the header and the history header and manually changed the status code to complete (two different codes, go figure). I then closed the period (making sure the days to complete was less than the completed dates) and the PO did drop from the open the table.

I agree with David, give the Purge Obsolete Purchase Orders utility a try, it may not get them all but should clear out most of them for you.

Thanks everyone, that does indeed solve the issue. I think the client was expecting it to behave exactly like Sales Order, dropping off as soon as complete, since Sage stated it is modeled after the SO History. Gotta love figuring out new stuff. Next years new interface should be... fun?
