I am trying to import a batch of records into IM_ItemCost. The VI job tests fine but fails when run for real. I can get the entire message but this is what it does provide: ""HS Record Invalid or Write Failed. The record is not in an e"". I am running a single user version on my local pc. Ideas?

Yeah, business logic won't let you insert new records into that file through vi. It would let you import over existing records. Ran into that in another file some where. The rest of the message is ""not in an editable state.

I was afraid that was the case. I will have to get an MD to write a program to push them directly. There are too many to add back to do so manually.

What about taking your IM files to another company, importing a big receipt transaction(to get the cost records into the ItemCost file) and then taking the cost file back to the live company?

Brett, that's a great idea. I will give it a dry run on my machine with a couple items and see what happens. If we stage it right, I could do it with minimal impact on the client by staging the transactoins on my workstation, shut down their system, pull a copy of IM_ItemCost onto my box, post the batch and then push the file back. That would greatly reduce the time down. They are a large company with 30+ full time users. We need to keep the down time to a minimum. There are 64 lotted records to add back but only 5 have quantities on hand. I will put the 5 back manually through DFDM. The rest are for historical purposes and not as critical. Thanks again.
