I am desperate. I am upgrading client from 4.3 to 100 standard 2014. On my test machine I created MS Access queries and redesigned Crystal and I got beautiful reports. Now on site and all I get is ""Failed to retrieve data from the database"" and Data Connector Error: DAO Error Code 0xc4f Source DAO.Database Description: ODBC connection to SOTAMAS90 failed Now I run the query before I the Crystal attempt to make sure Access gets the data.

Was you test machine a 64 bit machine running a 64 bit version of Access?

Clarification - Onsite you can run the query in Access and retrieve the data?

Make sure External Access is on in Company Maintenence. Also check ODBC Security in Role Maintenence

@MyronStevenson yes. @KennyDaniel will check that now. Thanks

I have external access and full permission on ODBC security. @DougHiggs my machine had Access 2010 32 bit and the client on a server 2008 has Access 2003

Check that the MS Access Database driver in the 32-Bit ODBC control panel is the one that supports MDB only and not the one with MDB, ACCDB.

I do not use Access much but have used data queries from excel. Excel stores the path as part of the query (not merely pointing to the ODBC). Any chance something similar is happening here?

@DanBurleson It does support both though this is obviously mdb. It does not let me reconfigure it. But this is the same ODBC driver that worked on 4.3

To clarify. I see live data i the query. If I make a table of the query I Crystal will put data from the table. I get the error when I run Crystal from the live query. What I don't understand is if Access can get the data why can't Crystal?

I got it to work. They had 2 versions of Access on the machine. 2003 and 2007. Uninstalled 2003. Took 2 shots of bourbon and the Crystal and all its colors came on the screen. I don't know if it was your support, the uninstall of Access or the bourbon but it works. Thanks

Only two shots of bourbon? That WAS the trick....

Usually takes me 4-5 shots chased with a beer to get it to work.
