    How cool of a business would it be to offer a backup service for no money. If the customer suffers a loss you offer to restore at $ x per restore.

    Most customers have no interest in doing anything until catastrophic loss. If during upgrades we arranged some way to backup their data without charging a penny if bet 1/2 would be paying for a restore because their IT did a shoddy backup job. Of course they'd all beg to have it restored free or threaten to use another partner which would really shoot down this model

    In some ways that's what these hard drive repair companies are. You pay huge fees to them but at that point you are desperate.

    I'd actually thought of that idea jokingly. In essence, you'd be a reverse insurer. Pay a cost per client but if one get's hit, you hit them hard.
