How weather in MN today? Looks like Myron is getting hit with a blizzard. How are the Twins?

It's a snow day! Schools are closed, streets aren't plowed yet, it's a work from home day. It started with freezing rain last night but we now have about 4 inches of very wet and heavy snow - and it's still snowing! Thanks for asking, @JeffSchwenk!

It's actually quite beautiful with the snow sticking to everything but we're a bit worried about some of our trees - many branches are bending almost to the ground.

OK. I'll stop complaining about the humidity today.

It was raining last night when I left work ... which is pretty unheard of. Wet slushy snow fell later, but hardly any. And people have forgotten how to drive in Minneapolis .. this little bit of snow here is nothing!

Well our birch tree is finally upright again but the neighbor lost about 10' off the top of a very tall pine tree. Fortunately, it was on the OTHER side of their yard and NOT on the side closest to us (where they also have very tall trees!). Oh, and it's still snowing....

Tornado watch for us until 9pm Eastern. @BrettZimmerman, you got out of central Kentucky just in time. They've already had several touch down up there.

I saw @JohnShaver. Scary stuff. Apparently that one in Harrisburg, Illinois was really bad. No tornado sightings here on the East coast, but it's been snowing for the past couple hours.

@ThereseLogeais you are at the North end of MSP ... so lucky here in the South burbs to have missed the worst of it.

@JaneScanlan yes, apparently the northern metro got it worse. Lucky you!

I heard Nebraska had a tornado for the first time ever in February. I'd rather have the blizzard...

I had a conference in La Jolla, CA Sunday through Tueday this week. Since it was snowing in MN and the Duluth airport was going to be shut down AND I have training in Irvine next next, I decided to stay in San Diego. In fact, I'm working in the DSD offices. Mid 60's here in SoCal and the weekend looks like low 70s. Duluth, MN is closed. Schools, government, universities, buses, taxis - Everything is pretty much shut down due to the blizzard. Was at Torrey Pines in La Jolla on Monday in the rain for a visit. Perhaps I'll play on Friday afternoon. I could get use to the San Diego weather and lifestyle. If had $40 million in government securities and I'd move!!

The traffice here in San Diego is not too bad. Minneapolis, Chicago, Houston and LA are much worse. I think it is easy to get, around and there is so much here to enjoy.

So I was in SD in November for my son's boot camp graduation and what is up with the crazy roads???

Careful on the birch tree. Back in IA many years ago, we had an ice storm which doubled the birch tree so that the top branches were touching the ground. It NEVER stood tall again. After five years of holding it up with a rope, I had it cut down. It almost had a final say as a branch nearly went through the living room window.........

The birch tree looks much better now. It was given to me by one of my sons about 8 years ago so I would be very sad to see it suffer. The snow is finally tapering off - thank goodness!
