  • 1.  How to void or reverse Accounts Payable ACH Electronic Payments and remove them from the ACH file

    Customer sent an email asking the following:  "Is there any way to modify or delete an accounts payable ACH payment that has already been posted and the ACH file been created?".

    I thought I would send him the Sage article that is attached this post, then quickly changed my mind after reading it.  My first thought is... Are you fricking kidding me?  There isn't one user at any of my customers that would be capable or trustworthy enough to do this process.  So, any time an ACH needs to be reversed they have to call me.

    Definitely... If Sage expects the users to routinely use DFDM to search for and delete records from tables, then the UI may need some tweaking (or complete development).

    Or call the reseller who has downloaded the ACH Viewer software who can then fix the ACH file for you!!!  I believe @Beth Bowers showed me the way with this free software.

    More and more of my clients are implementing ACH and I get these calls much more frequently than I did before.  Sage should build a utility, IMO  We can dream, right?

    @Jeff Schwenk  That's a great utility.  Thanks for sharing.  I usually use NoteTab++ for modifying ACH files.  The point I am trying to make is there should be a user interface that the end user can use to reverse an ACH payment when the ACH file has already been generated.  In addition  to the ACH file needing to be modified, records in the AP_ACHGenerationHeader, AP_ACHGenerationDetail, and AP_VendorElectronicPayHistory tables need to be modified using DFDM.  This is not something the end user can do themselves.  Seems a bit ridiculous.

    I agree 100% with that sentiment @Doug Higgs.  Let me know when you post on the idea website and I will vote for the traction.  We could try the Ideation90, but this is a big ask from Sage.

    Other clients have a bank contact (rare) that allow them to delete the bad boy line.

    as @Barbara Goldstein noted, I am making a big push for clients to use ACH.  Correcting/voiding the transaction should be as easy peasy an actual paper check reversal.

    @Beth Bowers ACH Viewer?  Do you have a link to find this free software?  
    @Doug Higgs I think once when a client had to modify the file they had not yet sent to the bank I had them do a Check Run Reversal, then start again.  If I recall, they only did ACH Payments, no checks.  In my situation, would that be a valid option?

    @Madeline Stefanou - here's where I got it most recently.

    There is a Recalc that will recalculate those hash totals in the total records.  You can modify details or delete entire records.

    I've uploaded it into our Content Library under File Storage \ Utilities \ ACHViewer.

    Looks like you'll need a Java Runtime installed to use it.
