How to remove zero qty cost tiers with values

  • 1.  How to remove zero qty cost tiers with values

Customer has zero qty cost tiers with values, e.g. zero on hand but a negative .01 value. I know you're supposed to do an adjustment in and then an adjustment to remove the .01 but the issue is, the quantity is actually -.003 even though they only use two decimals for quantities. I cannot get rid of them!! What am I missing??

Temporarily increase the decimal precision for quantities?

Agree with @Eric Lunceford.  Increase the decimal places, make the entries, reduce decimal places.

What a pain! Do you think they at one time used more decimals or is it simply a rounding issue??

Not sure how they would have get the values in the system with the decimals set at 2.  Maybe a user forced a quantity based on cost/price and the system rounded it.

I've seen BIlls and WOs do that before...

Yes, I know about BM and WO causing it but they have neither module.

    Therese,
This happens a lot in Sage with miniscule rounding errors.  If you run the *utl Balancing utility, see if those show up (do in a test company) as items that the utility will correct.  If not, then what I do is process an adjustment transaction a quantity of 1 at zero cost into inventory to the cost tier, post it, then process an adjustment transaction out and the cost will relieve.

*utl doesn't do the trick and I cannot do a correcting adjustment as it says it has .003 on hand but I can only add one and adjust out one, still leaving .003 on hand. I changed the quantity decimal to three and voila - they actually have four!! Changed it to four and now I can just adjust in or out the fractional quantity.

What @Jane Scanlan said. Also, since you know which records are off, as another option, you can import into IM_ItemCost to zero out these particular values to fix it that way. This is possible because you are editing existing records (not adding new ones) which that business object allows. You would need to do a quick read up on any past post on how to remove the ReadOnly attribute in the dictionary (where you ultimately DFDM Providex.dde) so you can import into numeric fields like ExtendedCost, UnitCost, etc.

I look back for the original transaction with the extra decimal place.  If you can't find one, perhaps try *utl?
