  • 1.  How to improve printing for RDP Users?

I am working with a company where there Server is in NY and their second company is in FL.  They are using RDP Desktops to connect to a Terminal Server and Run Sage 100 v2018 Premium, within the desktop.  All is well, except printing.  Something that takes 3 seconds at the TS is taking 30 seconds for the user via the RDP Session.  Does CS ODBC help with Premium Sage 100c?  Should they look to invest in a Remote Desktop Printing product like TSPrint?  Or is this a case of their IT company not setting it up optimally?

CS ODBC is not an option for Premium, and SQL is better in every way for ODBC performance (with sufficient resources).
My first thought was print drivers not being installed on the TS for the user printers (and generic drivers are being used).  Have IT install the correct driver for each printer being used.
Best case is to not use redirected printers at all, and set up network printers on the TS (so print spooling is fast), but that requires a persistent site to site VPN.

@Kevin Moyes that is exactly what I was hoping I would hear.  They do not have the print drivers on the TS, and they are using Redirected Printers and not Network Printers.  I appreciate the info.  Let's see what their IT say about this.

What Kevin said.  I'll only add that we used to use ThinPrint (https://www.thinprint.com/en/) with our Citrix implementations until RDP's built-in printing became 'good enough' for most people. You load the agent on the terminal server and the client PC and then it compresses the printer job and spools it at the PC.  Greatly speeds up the print jobs and also removes the need to install printer drivers on the terminal server (which is the #1 cause of server crashes).  It's reasonably priced per user (<$25/user/year).

TS Print is another similar product. I think it's $400 per server and you buy it once per server.
