Sage 100

How do you turn off the Classic Desktop on a 100 Standard install? I did an upgrade to Standard 100 2016, (not 100c.). After installing the workstation setup on a PC, it asked if they want to use the Standard or Classic Desktop. I accidently choose Classic and now I cannot revret back. They never bought or installed 100c, not sure why it even prompted them for that option. I found an article on the KB that talks about making changes to the local workststion files but that seems to apply to 100 Advanced version. Can't find the local files on a Sage 100 Standard. TIA

Log out of Sage 100. Bring up the login screen and click the settings button on the lower left. If the button doesn't exist than the license key is not for a c version. The ""classic"" desktop is the non-c version of the UI. The ""standard"" desktop is the c version of the UI. (Just to make things more confusing)

I figured it out. You need to delete the Sage 100 folder from C:\users\user name\ and start Sage 100 again. When you do, it will ask you again if you want the Classic or Standard screen. Thank you Tim and Mark but when i was clicking on the Settings button it was not doing anything. No other screen was openning from which I could make the changes..

Interesting. I thought you were supposed to be able to toggle back and forth between the versions...

Jeff, are you supposed to be able to toggle on Sage 100 or is just 100c that allows you to toggle? My customer is NOT on 100c but they got the option to choose anyway. I think Sage is aware of this problem based on some KB articles I read.

You can make the change in Company Maintenance, too. There's a new THEME tab.

If you navigate to mas90\launcher and run the ""launch32.exe you can change the desktop interface.

Just to confirm, you can change the desktop interface either using Theme tab or launch32.exe regardless of version being 100 or 100c?

I think what Kenny is saying is that during initial setup of 2016 there was a prompt to select classic or standard desktop. The user was NOT 100c and it's believed that allowing them to change desktops is some type of bug which Sage is aware of.

Yes, Wayne is correct. Customer is on Sage 100. Why are they being prompted to select Standard or Classic Desktop. Unless I'm missing something and it is an option on Sage 100 2016

I have installed a couple of 2016 standard recently. Both had the same issue. I believe this to be a bug. In both cases, the ""Settings"" button on the logon screen doesn't work, and the ""Theme"" tab doesn't have any information pertaining to changing the interface. I found two ways to change the interface: 1. Run the launch32.exe program, and 2. Delete the Sage 100 folder (as Kenny mentioned). It doesn't seem probable that Sage would have intended the user to be able to toggle between 100 and 100c without paying for 100c. if they did, I don't believe they would have disabled the Settings button and the Theme information in Standard.

Thanks for the clarification. If/when Sage discovers the bug and plugs this hole, I wonder what will happen to std 100 users that activated it?

Sage will wait 3 years, hold a partner webinar to announce that those customers are going to be billed retroactive maintenance because they have been substantially under billed for the higher value they received, then Sage will send out the bill with no notice and allow the VAR to answer the questions as they come in. In other words, same as all prior policy changes that cost the customer money.

The funny part is if you select Classic you get the regular Desktop we are all used to, whereas Standard is the new one. I would have thought 100c stood for Classic. I guess ""c"" as in standard is what they mean.

Just ran into this again. Customer was helping me setup workstations. Fun times. Whoever wrote the Sage certification memo email probably was in charge of this UI change as well

I don't see a c:\user\sage folder. Will update when I figure out how to undo this Sage 2016 product defect.

C:\users\username\My Documents\Sage 100 <-- rename this folder and restart sage 100

Sage defaults the option box to the new UI even if the customer doesn't have the 100c keys.
