@JimWoodhead I'm not able to find anything that say's providing a W-9 with ""applied for"" is acceptable.
If you have found something please link it here because I'm sure Blytheco is going to request it.
Rather what I've seen is that Byltheco would have been required to withhold 28% if we were unable to provide a tax ID #. If they file a 1099 with a blank tax ID # for 90 Minds they'll be automatically flagged for penalty.
I believe our best way around this is to obtain a tax ID number over the phone from the IRS.
Then use that tax ID to provide Blytheco with a W9.
I am not able to tell whether we are going to have further issues with the State/Fed regarding qualifying for 501 C exempt status.
Worst case we'd file as a corporation of some time and pay taxes as required at the end of 2012.
