Hot fix for 2019.2 for 1099-NEC form

  • 1.  Hot fix for 2019.2 for 1099-NEC form

    Posted 08-04-2020 10:29
    Good morning everyone:

I was told by Job Ops that Sage released a hot fix for 2019.2 to include the 1099-NEC form since clients on Job Ops cannot install 2019.3 or 2020.

I cannot seem to find this hot fix and wondered if anyone was aware of it or if it has to be requested on a case by case basis.

    TIA
    Pam

It doesn't look like a hot fix, looks like it was included per the 2019.3 release release notes -

Our Sage 100 team just talked about this issue.  With a few third parties not compatible with 2019.3, Sage really needs to come out with a hot fix for 2019.2.
Hopefully 90Minds can give some input to Sage to release a fix?

I'll put in the request @Nancy Hanson - confirming is it a hot fix for 2019.2 or 2018.#?

For a major 1099 mod we have that I'm retrofitting for PU3, I've closely studied the Sage code changes made to support the new 1099-NEC form. It involves new fields, changed fields (even on the 1099-M form) and box numbers and even a separate utility to move existing 1099-M vendor fields and boxes to 1099-NEC. Due to the permanent nature of the form and data changes and the sizable QA effort, I foresee Sage not willing to hotfix PU2.

Hope I'm wrong about that. If I'm not maybe Sage can compel Scanco to support PU3 before January so the above utility can be run before 1099s are printed / eFiled.

    Thanks,

I have since spoken to Sage again and they confirmed there is no hot fix.  Apparently Scanco's support team told Job Ops there was a hot fix when there is not one.

Really put's Job Ops clients in a bind if they need the new 1099 form.

    Thanks for the info.

As I understand it, none of Scanco's products are compatible with PU3.  Scanco should step up and straighten it out with Sage.

I've had this conversation with Scanco, and they are "not" planning to release a v2018 PU3 compatible version for what we know as "JobOps" (aka Manufacturing, aka Operation Management").  They were wishy washy on what they would do for their v2019 version.  They tell me that the plan is to have a hot fix available from Sage Software in December for those clients that need it.  They also said that by December 2020, their v2020 release will be available and we should plan to upgrade to that version.  Scanco is "all hands on deck" trying to their v2020 release of JobOps available by the end of September, which will integrate with multi-bin.   So they have no bandwidth to work on v2019 PU3 nor v2019 PU3.  Their v2019 does not integrate with multi-bin; and as I understand it, they will "skip that level".

I've notified Sage Dev of the need for a hot fix for 1099-NEC for versions prior to 2019.3.  They are aware of the ISV release issues.  The 90 Minds Sage Dev Roundtable meeting in September, may have additional news on this specific topic.

We also have a couple of clients not able to apply 2019 update 3 because of Scanco's enhancements.  These clients have 1099 vendors who will need the new NEC form.  I was told by Scanco a hot fix was available from Sage on 7/10 - quote - The 1099 fix/features that is in PU 3 are available from Sage as a Hot Fix.  You have to call support and ask for it, but it is available that way.  So, you can implement it on PU 2 with their hotfix.

Guess Scanco was stretching the truth on this one.  And of course I already told the client we need to schedule a time to install the hot fix.

Do we have any update on this from the Sage Development team?  I forgot to ask yesterday and I imagine as a group we have a lot of clients running v2018 and v2019 who have Scanco products so can't install the current PU and have a lot of 1099-NEC forms they will have to process for 2020.  Since this fits into the legislative requirement category, I would hope that carries more weight with Sage for making a solution available.

Crickets from Sage on this.  SCANCO erroneously told me the same thing about Sage having a hot fix that has to be requested back in July.  Why is SCANCO allowed to skip support of Sage updates for actively supported products anyway!?

Regarding 2018, the Release notes for PU9 say it's in there, too.

Can you put a 2020 on a spare workstation or VM, migrate the company without the Scanco just so you can process 1099's?  or Export the information, import to another system to run them for the customer?

This thread is a bit cold 9last reply was 30 days ago)  Anyways,  Has anyone heard from Scanco on this?  This is about to become a huge deal if our customers can't run 1099's. at the end of the year

I just sent an email to Scanco Management to see what is the game plan for v2018.9, v2019.3 and v2020 releases.  When (If) I hear back, I will add to this thread.

Scanco just sent out an email containing links to various parts of their website.  One is supported platforms.  Front and center is lack of support for 2019 PU3 (and we have to assume PU4).  UPDATED:  Software Compatibility Chart for Scanco Products

Still trying to figure out as a Master Developer how they can get away with not supporting Versions supported by Sage.?  At least within a reasonable time.

Response from Joe Bisaha, VP of Development at Scanco:

2020.0 is already released last month.  if customers want to upgrade to that they can.

For 2018 and 2019 we are still working with Sage to determine a solution.  should have information next week on a deliver for those 2 versions.

Thanks for the answer/update ... the question is if 2020.1 will be required or will 2020.0 will be support for the 1099.   All the pieces seem to be there  in the .0 version but we will see come January.

Clients will have to have the Sept. release in order to have Nonemployee Compensation as an option in Form 1099 Tax Reporting so:
    2020 PU1
    2019 PU4
    2018 PU10

    1099-NEC

@Madeline Stefanou   Looks like Joe Bisaha  and Scanco will need to update their response.  I agree with Shari.  PU1 is required V2020 for  NEC-1099.

FYI, Looks like Scanco quietly released a special NEC 1099 Patch for the SAGE 2020.0  (PU0) ONLY.  So I guess the path to the new 1099 is to upgrade to V2020 PU0

It is available on the Scanco Jobops portal.

This is good news for all of our customers current on Operations Management  AKA JobOps..

And the SCANCO news release article shows 2019.4 support slotted for December.  That impacts many more of our clients than 2020.  Cutting it close!
