    Hopefully a quick question. In Sage 100 payroll v2015+ payroll, in employee maintenance / Wages / Tax Status, the federal personal exemption box is greyed out. Why is this? I can duplicate in my own installation with ABC company. Client noticed employees with values in this field that cannot be changed.

    Personal Exemptions Enter the number of personal exemptions claimed for the state and local tax jurisdictions. This field is available only if the selected tax jurisdiction allows personal exemptions.

    is there a setting in tax table maintenance to allow/use this field?

    They might have had this turned on at one time, entered Personal exemptions, then turned it back off. The data would probably still be showing, but would not be used if that box is unchecked in Tax Table maintenance.

    Thank you. I did find the checkbox in Tax Table Maintenance for ""FED"". However, even if I check this, the field in EE maintenance is still greyed out. Not sure how values got put in there, but if they are not affecting any tax calculation it's not a big problem. Appreciate everyone's input. Thank you.

    From the help file: This field is available only if the selected tax jurisdiction allows personal exemptions.

    John, you have to set personal exemptions on each Filing **status** not just the main screen in the Federal Tax table maintenance. I think that will open the field up for you in EE maintenance. Now whether or not federal **should** allow for personal exemptions I have no idea!

    ok so I tested after I answered. you will also need to set the Max number allowed field to a number greater than zero for each/any filing status you want to enter personal exemptions for
