This is the first significant update we have had from our hosted Higher Logic site. We had an Admin Experience update 7/8 and then 7/10 we had another update. These two updates made some changes to the user experecne. Please note, I'm posting this info. for the board and will make a cleaner anncoument to the membership, since not all of the features/info. are relevant to general membership.
I'm pleased the HL is not only improving the product but is quickly addressing issues. At the bottom of this list, are issues being addressed from this release. 1. Annoucements can be included in Email Digests - I've enabled this feature. The first 40 characters of the annoucment title and first 600 characters of the annoucment body will be inlcuded in the Digests emails for each community. (YAY!)
2. Nomenclature updates:
- Reply replaces Reply Inline
- Reply to Discussion has been removed (updates made to the editor will no longer require you to need the advanced editor launched via this option)
- Reply Privately replaces Reply to Sender
3. Basic Editor to Advanced Editor - to switch form the 'basic' editor to the advanced version, rather than using a hyperlink, click the ellipsis from the Basic Editor screen on the controls line at the far right.

Inserting an Image
Click upload image to launch Select Files to Upload. After selecting your photo, choose your image display settings.
- Small Image (width is 100px)
- Medium Image (width is 200px)
- Large Image (width is 300px)
- X-Large Image (width is 400px)
- Original Image
In addition, you have the ability to insert an image title and description.
5. Following Content - members can follow discussions, blogs, libraries, and ideas. To make is easer to find what content you are following, select your profile, the My Connections tab, and from the dropdown list select "Following". You can direcctly access content from
6. Some issues that are being addressed by HL from this new release (and announced 22 hours ago by HL)
- The new Basic Plus Editor is missing the video icon, the add tables icon, and the source code button. Some users are seeing placeholders, some are not.
- The insert image editor is missing the caption field.
- Super Admins and Community Admins cannot access the Image Library.
- Workaround: Please be assured your images are still there and can be accessed in the CMS if you navigate to site setup > images.
- The blog editor is defaulting to standard editor.
- Workaround: In the CMS you can change the default to full editor.
