My goal is to have this as a text file so when a customer asks for a quote I can:
a. Create a Basecamp project
b. Copy/paste this checklist/form into Basecamp
c. Completed the checklist
d. Use the checklist for quote - copy/paste into an addendum to serve as somewhat of a project definition.
This way I cover several problem areas where customers ask for quotes, take months to decide, then come back and want to start tomorrow. By having all this information already gathered into a project I'm a little more ready to go (versus scratching my head wondering what we talked about three months ago)...
I don't create free quotes for upgrades unless the company is on a plan with me.
Companies coming in via the web have historically been price checkers with hidden issues. Many of these are on version 3.x, never need help, hardly ever need to call, want to purchase services ala carte (translation: lowest rate available).
