Here's an example of something we should really double down on as a group. If you think about it AI is definitely going to come through and start replacing some discussions in this forum. However one thing AI can't presently do is give an up-to-date summary of what current activity is. AI is frequently 6 months a year behind on hallucinates, etc. AI can't get into a lot of non-public areas to summarize this type of information.

These types of discussions where we have 3-4 experienced members  chime in with opinions is great. I think people are fundamentally afraid of a formal collaboration, although they tend to pipe in on community forum posts like this. This is something that we should really consider using more frequently.

Below is the example of the discussion thread I'm referencing and then right below that is a link to a short document that I created. Now with these short documents we can reuse them. People could offer them to clients, share them in their firms we could offer them as some type of whitepaper. I mean to have this kind of up-to-date information - that many of our best clients may ask about -  is like gold in my opinion.  And your mileage may vary but I think this is the wave of the future for us as a group whether it's Sage 100, Sage Intact or any other product.

Here's the original discussion which has lots of great topical information from very knowledgeable members:

Sage 100 running as a Remote app - Pros and Cons

And here's a quick summary that Google Gemini creates ( right from within Chrome ) from our discussions ( BTW, important to distinguish as you roll your eyes and think "there goes another AI inquiry" that what I am using AI for is to summarize not create - no hallucination, easily verified by checking against our forum post. AI is saving time and making the discussion more readable in a format that's easy to store in Google Docs. I am not advocating to ask AI the question an then we have to spend time figuring out what portion - if any - is valid.
Here's the Google Doc summary which takes under a minute to create:
I'm not asking that any action be taken on this - just sharing an idea for you to think about.

Wayne - thank you for taking the time to articulate this so clearly. This is an excellent example of where our community is genuinely ahead of the curve, not by competing with AI, but by using it appropriately and intentionally.

What really resonates here is the distinction you're making between AI as a summarization and organization tool versus AI as a content creator. The value in this example comes from current, practitioner-led insight-the kind of real-time, experience-based discussion that simply doesn't exist in public datasets and can't be replicated without trusted community participation.

I also appreciate your note about participation dynamics. You're absolutely right: many members are far more comfortable contributing quietly and  thoughtfully within organic forum discussions than committing to more formal collaboration structures. That's an important signal for us as we think about how to surface and preserve high-value content without adding friction.

I'd like to add this approach to the agenda for our next Content Library Steering Committee meeting so we can explore:

    • How we identify and elevate these high-signal discussion threads
    • Light, consistent standards for summarization and reuse
    • Where these short-form summaries could live and how members might best access or share them

No action required now-just flagging this as a promising direction that aligns well with our mission and the evolving realities of AI.

Thanks again for starting this conversation and for modeling exactly the kind of contribution that makes this community so valuable.

I may not be able to make the next meeting as I'll be on-site at a client. I think my thoughts above are what I'd share at the meeting.

Areas that I feel would be high value also include surveys - if we can figure out a way to entice people to participate

    - Experience with xyz isv or area ( credit cards, warehouse management ) - it's probably better to focus on high demand area versus specifically naming an ISV ( "what's your experience within the past 18 months with warehouse management , credit cards, AP automation, document management, etc). Maybe this could be a survey that goes out every other month? Just a thought.
