Here is the e-mail from JobOps regarding the Inventory balacing issues in 4.40: Due to heavy support inquiries regarding Inventory out of balance issues for 4.4, we wanted to provide you our recommended steps to follow: Step 1: What to check? Run the Inventory Trial Balance and Valuation Reports. If the two reports don't balance, then you need to follow the steps below. Step 2: Installation If you have customizations to your software contact JobOps to review your customizations prior to upgrading. Your system needs to have the latest release installed which is 4.40 PU7 with JobOps R3 and the IM4019-T hot fix. The proper order of installation is: Install MAS90 PU7 Install the hot fix Install JobOps R3 Place the attached file in the IM directory of the MAS90 installation, this will be needed for the Sage utilities (IM_158RemoveZeroQtyCostTiers_ui.pvc) Step 3: Contact Sage Contact Sage and let them know that you are experiencing issues with your Inventory Trial Balance and Valuation Reports being out of balance. They will run some utilities on your system to repair the out of balance condition. They will then provide instructions on how to make sure that you are in balance and that adjustments may need to be made to repair some items. Step 4: Review Run the Inventory Trial Balance and Valuation Reports again and compare them to determine if any items are out of balance. Make sure when you run the Valuation Report that you turn on the option to Print Zero Quantity Cost Tiers. Review any items that might remain out of balance and determine if any Inventory Adjustments were made to create this out of balance condition. If so, reverse the adjustment and redo the adjustment correctly. Step 5: Contact JobOps If after completing Step 4, you find that some inventory items remain out of balance contact JobOps support for further assistance in balancing your inventory. --The JobOps Team

Yes, this was a formal way of laying part of the blame for these issues on Sage. I don't disagree with them, since there have been some serious MAS issues in this regard. I'm not sure about all the Solution Providers and JobOps consultants, but most of us would have already gone through steps 1 - 4 and that's why we are contacting Synergistic.

@JaneScanlan Mind is we post this on 90 Minds? Be happy to link it to each of our Job Ops experts if you all provide a web URL and city/state (I could look it up but this would be easiest)

@WayneSchulz no problem about posting it, but maybe rewording some areas so that end users are encouraged to contact their JobOps Reseller instead of JobOps. Thanks Wayne.

@JaneScanlan I haven't been following closely what these issues are - can you give a quick one paragraph summary as well as which versions of MAS/Job Ops are impacte? Thanks!

Job ops should just be proactive and email all users on 4.4

@JohnnyPabian I'm sure Synergistic does not know who is on 4.4. I also don't want them contacting my clients directly, so it becomes my responsibility to contact them, which I am fine with.

@JohnHoyt - Then what is the purpose of filling out the web form everytime you do a download for a job ops service pack download. I would think there is a list there somewhere that could be used as a starting point. I would think every customer that is on 4.4 has probably had one issue or another at some point that logged a case that could could be used to say - Please check your inventory and see if it is balancing so that we do not wait till the year 2015 to discover it has been out all this time. I just think software publishers should be more proactive. I wish MAS 90 and third party addons would publish a current known issue list - it would save many frustrations on everyone's part if we could at least glance at so we could know if commissions for example are not calculating right. If this client does not use commissions then no big deal - if they do use it at least we can alert the person doing commissions to beaware of issues - so as to not overpay someone. Especially on upgrades - I hate calling support and hearing it is a ""known"" issue for 4 months and it is now causing issues that we could have avoided. I think Crystal reports publishes a known issues list.

@JohnnyPabian None of our clients would ever download anything from JobOps, because we have the releases and the service updates. We are also directly involved in all upgrades and application of service updates. Perhaps our approach to JobOps clients is different, but this is a complex program, and we feel that only certified JobOps consultants on our staff should be dealing with this. We have encountered some of the same inventory issues and balancing, but have also been very proactive to make sure we don't have a huge support problem. This has worked well for us and our clients.

@JohnHoyt Agreed - I would not want a client installing directly but I do download from the jobops website for each client thinking that the purpose of the web form is so jobops knows which clients are getting the downloads. Otherwise what is the purpose of the prompt - to annoy us?

@JohnnyPabian Yes, it's probably to annoy us! They should take it out, because they don't have enough resources to spend the time analyzing those downloads. They should assume only the Solution Providers and Consultants are downloading it. Then again, it could be some kind of BDO requirement.
