Here is a new one (at least for me). Trying to upgrade client to MAS 90 v4.5. Asking for a connection to the server. IT says they don't have servers any more must a SAN. Sure enough, when we connect it is via a workstation. Currently, I am installing it via the workstation but am wondering what down stream events will come back to haunt me so I can warn them about it in advance so I don't get the blame. Obviously, CRM isn't going to work (but they won't be using it). Is there anything in the registry? Do we have to do future installs from this PC? MAS 4.3 and v4.4 seem to be working fine in this environment. Thoughts?

Well, here is one downside. The install is taking forever. Reminds me of installing on a Novell network back in the day........

Jeff...You have discovered issue #1. 4.5 installs and service pack installs are super slow when not installing at a server. You may want to manually uninstall the Integration Engine service or at the minimum set it to disabled.

I always stop the integration engine when client has no intention of installing CRM. Just one less headache to deal with when dealing with updates.........

Although I have no SAN experience - it sounds a lot like the customer who insists they're going to run MAS90 over a thin client VPN and then piss and moan (despite your initial warnings) about how bad MAS90 is and how slow it runs - especially when printing reports. All things you'd warned them about ...
