Are there security concerns??? If not, I usually have the check signer give me several signatures (using a black sharpie) on a plain sheet of paper. I scan it then pick the best looking one then use my graphic editor (snag it) to create an image. Save as a graphics file, then import into the Crystal report. Size and align and you are good.

What @JeffSchwenk said. And, yes, I have a chat that this is not a secure way to sign. Have had customers go with a more expensive route and with few (but some) exceptions they find that the simple graphic image is the easiest.

BTW, also a good time to have the ""chat"" about buying blank check stock, then using Crystal to print everything on the check. Verify the MICR is printing in the ""zone"" and you have another money saving method of printing checks. No magnetic toner is required. And if you really feel lucky, go with the Vendor ACH payments. Very secure method.

@JeffSchwenk - interesting, I have one client who isn't feeling the secure love on ACH Payments because there is no ""check signing"" step where someone in authority has the final say on which checks go out the door - unless the authority person is the one who actually prints and updates the check register to build the file.

I'm afraid to ask who does the reconciliation

Relax...I already asked. It is the external bookeeper

@BethBowers - Me thinks the client has bigger issues....

I have a client that users a company called SecureCheck 8 software to print the signature. On the workstation, there is a SecureCheck printer driver that your select when printing checks. The checks get put into a print queue and then a little SecureCheck window pops up. Once you log into that, then you have the ability to print the checks and the software will do the signature. The software ties into the actual physical printer. Works nicely. I hope that this kind of what you are looking for.

We have a source who will convert the signature to a Windows font. The font is only installed on workstations where checks are printed. You must add the ""key"" that triggers the font on the signature line of the check using Crystal and set the font for the key to the new signature font.

we have a client that uses Piracle - very comprehensive check ""processing"" solution. Approval and check printing outside of Sage. Probably similar to SecureCheck that @MarcosDeLuna mentioned. We also have a client that uses a Wycom check signer that requires a user to activate the addition of the signature on the laser printer.

If you go the simple signature graphic route, create a 'password' parameter in CRW and make the graphic print only if the password is entered during printing using conditional suppression. The password-type parameter is available and hides the code when typing. it's not perfect but it goes a long way in making the check printing more secure.
