    Having an issue sending outbound email from CRM. I can email to internal email addresses within the company without a problem from any user in CRM. When I try to send emails to external email addresses, it fails except for sending them as the Admin user in CRM (which is linked to the orders@ account in CRM options). When I try to send an email to an external email address from any other user other than the admin it fails with the attached error. I have also attached my SMTP settings. Is this a routing issue on the Exchange server side? I thought CRM passes emails to Exchange and then Exchange decides to relay them to external contacts. Any assistance would be helpful...it is an urgent issue.

    Thanks @PeterWolf ...I appreciate it. Customer is freaking out of course and the IT guy is not very responsive on this. He keeps pushing back that it is a CRM issue but I have set this up successfully for other customers in a similar fashion.

    @BrianBuck - if it works to internal emails but not external then it is most likely a relay issue. More recent versions of Exchange have gotten positively paranoid about that and may require setting up an allow relay rule per user and machine (in other words, just because orders@ can relay from the CRM server it does not necessarily mean that purchasing@ can).

    We have had the same relay issue with paperless email delivery of forms directly from MAS on some systems. Our solution was also to setup an allow relay rule for each user/workstation combination that needed to do this.

    Thanks guys. Gonna forward this information to the IT guy. That is what I was suspecting too. I will let you know what I find out.

    Yep - from my guys ""This may be a relay problem. The admin e-mail address may be the only e-mail address allowed to relay through Exchange. They should check Exchange and IIS.

    Day 3 and still no luck. The IT guy is stumped too on the Exchange side. Can't even use the 'Send email using Outlook' option either. I turned on debugging in the Advanced email settings hoping we can gain some knowledge from there...we will see.

    So odd ... when you set up your config, I was surprised that your SMTP user name did not include the ""@domain.com"" - but you said it was working for the one account. Also in case the IT guy doesn't know how to use the Googles: http://www.google.com/search?q=relay+configuration+exchange&sourceid=ie7&rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-Address&ie=&oe=

    Thanks Peter...he actually used the Googles over the Internets. It turned out he had missed the shell command in this article. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb232021.aspx Once he did that command all is well. Thanks for everyone's input.
