News regarding Brian Buck. As some of you saw, he was doing a weekend install when he reached out for a solution. We exchanged some e-mails and I asked why he wasn't able to make it to Nashville. Below is the response that he said I could share with the Admin/Leadership Council. Another one bites the dust!!! In a subsequent e-mail, he indicated that he would like to stay connected with the group if at all possible. I don't see any reason why we don't proceed with extending a 90Minds invite to him.
From Brian,
Well, a couple reasons I was a no show...I did have a booked client schedule this summer and the other reason is that I am transitioning into the 'private sector' and putting away my consulting hat for now. A very good client of mine made me an offer I couldn't refuse (another movie reference) so I am selling my portion of my partnership off to my partners and going to work for this client.
It is a bittersweet departure because I am going to miss my clients and miss my 90Minds peeps. But I do plan on staying in touch on LinkedIn and such.
The other reason that made this decision easier is that I have been so exhausted in dealing with Sage and their madness that I won't miss that part of the consulting. It has been a rough 6 months of dealing with Sage on deals, tech support, and our tier levels. Plus I had been sick of never having a steady Sage rep to talk to or have a business relationship with. We have gone through 6 reps in 2 years, longest term for one has been probably 9 months. They have made it tough on small shops like us.
If I come to DC next year, I may be coming in as a customer...So that would be cool if I can make it happen.
