Have I missed out on some trick or should there be

Have I missed out on some trick or should there be a way in MASCRCW to tell Sage to upgrade all custom reports which I believe are always in \Reports. Couldn't/shouldn't Sage look for the CUSTOM on the end of the report and automatically select to convert it? For that matter, doesn't Sage already know all the forms attached to Sage 100 and couldn't MASCRCW automatically select and convert them? Seems a little old fashioned to have to hunt and find reports to convert which Sage already knows about.

I always browse and search for them. Tired of wishing Sage would make life simpler.

I create a sub-folder, move all the *custom.rpt files there, scan just that sub-folder, run the conversion and then move them back. (Dealing with reports under system / company specific paths with similar limited scans).

That's so logically, thanks for the tip @KevinMoyes!

Not sure what I'm missing but MASCRCW does do a search in the folder you specify upon launching MASCRCW. It looks in the Keywords of the Summary Info of each report in that folder and if it does not say ""Converted to version XXXX"", it will proceed to convert it. To view the Keywords, in Crystal Reports go to File / Summary info. If you want to reconvert just change the Keywords and run MASCRCW again.

In the REPORTS folder there are a lot of obsolete reports hanging out along with current reports that I've added CUSTOM to the end so that they can be added to the Sage menu. There should be a way to automatically convert just those CUSTOM labeled reports. Instead you have to manually pick through reports -- most obsolete -- (there's no way of sorting them unless you follow @KevinMoyes advice to pull the ones out into a subfolder for easier discovery).

I usually delete all the obsolete reports or move them to another folder. Specially the Non Framework ones. It's not a big deal if you don't, they will just fail the conversion. I then let Sage search through the Reports folder and i convert everything Sage finds that needs conversion. I don't pick and choose. It does pick up the CUSTOM ones as well and converts them. Again, maybe I'm misunderstanding the question.

I'm usually closely monitoring the conversion because errors need to be dealt-with ASAP. A lengthy scan is a waste of time... and I've had the utility crash mid-conversion causing a duplication of that waste. The scan is not intelligent by file name or file location. It has to open each and every .rpt file...

I also delete obsoletes as a housekeeping step at the beginning of an upgrade, but don't you have MASCRCW scan the MAS90 folder, since there are REPORTS folders under all the customer's data folders too? It's such a pain to monitor the conversion , I wish it only displayed failures or had a print button.

There are a lot of workarounds - I don't dispute that. Why should workarounds be needed? Sage knows exactly which reports and forms are attached to the menu. The user should be able to click a ""convert all attached forms/reports"".

The user should be able to click a ""convert all attached forms/reports"" from within the software package and it just do it. Or even make it an option in the company conversion process.
