Have any of you had success with either MAS 200 or MAS 200 SQL over a VPN? Over the years I've just picked up the habit of recommending against this and using terminal server, but with faster VPN connections and the client/server ODBC driver does it work sufficiently? Does MAS 200 SQL resolve any of the past VPN issues?

Terminal Server is still the only why I will support remote connections. It is extremely difficult to have absolute control over the connection speed. Just not worth the downside risk to do it directly.

+1 Jeff -- the problem is that you get one connection to work then another person can't understand why a DSL connection is so slow, etc. Rinse Wash Repeat.

I am no techie and I just connect the way my clients tell me to. I do, however, have at least 4-5 clients using VPNs and I connect to them that way. I only notice the speed issue on one of them.

For servicing clients, I use RDP almost exclusively, usually with a private port forward at the router level but for 4 or 5 clients where we don't handle the network we use MS or Cisco VPN to make the connection. If we can't get cooperation from or they don't have any IT people, we have a Bomgar device but it can be slow and does not have printing features. We monitor a lot of client hardware via GFI Max and the ""Take Control"" feature works pretty good but I still prefer RDP. For Client remote end user use, we always use a terminal server for both MAS 90 and 200.
