Have a MAS200 client with server in Indiana, locations in PA, VA, etc. Off-site locations complain about speed. They did a test and entering MAS and bringing up GL Journal Entry were similar, but doing an entry (they had the same person do the same entry at each location) was 3 min local, 8 min remote. Is this normal or does something need to be done on the network? I'm not asking WHAT needs to be done because I'll let network guys go into a feeding frenzy over that. I just want to know if something SHOULD be done. The problem is that the remote locations used to each have their own server, so of course they were spoiled. But 2.5 times does seem like a lot, but I don't have any clients to compare it to. THANKS...

How are they connecting remotely? Is it straight thin client? Citrix/TS? If it's straight then variations in the line speed could cause some of that. I usually advise that Citrix/TS is the best solution if they are concerned about performance.

Let me know if you need me to do a site visit......... Three minutes locally even seems like a long time! How many lines are in the JE are they doing? Have you witnessed the issue or just going on their word? I agree with Wayne, everything should be Citrix or TS. Since it sounds like they are on a WAN, I am betting the Crystal report PDF's are a big cause as that is processed locally. Is Crystal set up to run at the server?
