Have a customer who would like to have multiple WIP accounts and they are planning on eventually implementing the work order module. To the Work Order experts out there - are there options to have multiple WIP accounts? I've noticed that it looks like there is really only one place to put in a WIP account....

You can set up WIP accounts in Operation Code Maintenance as well as in the WO Setup options.

As Therese indicated, you can define WIP accounts by Operation. All labor & material assigned the Operation with a different WIP account will post to the indicated account.

Actually it depends on what they are trying to collect with multiple WIP accounts. As long as they are separating by function (operation) this will work, but if they are trying to capture inventory related to Product Line, it won't. Would you describe their reasoning, might help to give you a better answer.

And even if you have multiple WIP accounts, you'll still have only one scrap account.

@DebThomas - they are re working their chart of accounts and wanted to have different WIP accounts for each product line. However they are open to suggestions.

Unless their Work Centers/Operations function along ""Product Lines"" there isn't a way to do this. WIP is not tied to the PLs, only to the processes which result in the products. And I've not seen a mod that allows this to happen, but maybe someone else has run into this situation. @JimWoodhead - has DSD?
