Have a client with a payroll subscription and a bunch of seasonal employees. They have less than 10 employees for about 7 months of the year and then jump to 250 for the remaining 5 months. I was curious what the process was to change the subscription level for the client so I asked our CAM at Sage. Here was the reply: ""Are they on monthly payments? If so, you can submit a request for the change to me and copy XXXXXX@sage.com. I think we are trying to formalize this process more in the future but that would be the best procedure right now. "" This seems like something that would be worked out with a simple ""click here to adjust your subscription level"" message that the client could navigate through BEFORE forcing them all to get a subscription. Add this to the list of dumb Sage things we get to try and explain to our clients. If anyone out there has found a more efficient way to handle this please let me know.

What? Make it easy, no way. The FAQ says the client should pay monthly and contact Sage for changes. Nothing on how to contact Sage. Smoke signals?

Nothing like moving your whole company to subscription sales without understanding the meaning of the word subscription...

Actually, this was one of the few take aways that I had back when they introduced it. If you pay monthly, you can adjust monthly for this very reason. Now as far as the actual PROCESS, I guess they should call the sales department whenever they need a change (and pray that they can get it right). Something simpler? Hah! I just wished I lived in a state that has legal medicinal marijuana.....

My understanding was that any changes to a subscription had to be done directly by the end user. Purchase new modules, remove modules, users, etc. I do not think Sage has thought this through at all and if you look at the company and the constant revolving door it's easy to see why. There is simply nobody at Sage long enough to implement any type of policies. So the reality is that policy is set by rogue order takers who appear to be the only ones setting any type of policy.

Process: re-invent the wheel, every time something ""new"" comes up.

For what it is worth - I have a client that uses TimeForce to collect the time card data and track back to projects. At end of pay period they generate a CSV file and send off to NetPay and ADP like processor. NetPay imports the file, calculates the taxes, prepares and submits the direct deposit, posts the pay stub to their employee portal, sends over pay period reports and makes the tax deposits. One report is setup so nicely that I used it to create the standard PR journal and it takes a staff member about 15 mins to key in. Payroll runs twice a month, quarterly reporting, W-2 and all handle by Netpay. Cost to customer? $2.43 per employee per **month**.
