Description Closing date is different than the Sage Fixed Assets ending date Cause The FL_FixedAssetsJournalwrkxxxxxxxx.M4T (xxxxxxxx = closing date) file groupfield$ string is missing the closing date or shows with a future date. The asset referenced has a future depreciation through date in the Fixed Assets program. (as noted in the exception error log) Resolution If the closing date is missing; it could be corruption on the asset. In Fixed Assets Program 1. Replicate the assets. (note the new asset number) On the asset detail, go to the title bar and click asset, replicate (1) OK (note the new asset number) 2. Inactivate the original asset. On the asset detail, go to the title bar and click asset, inactivate. Run period end again. If the closing date is future, run depreciation on the current period for all complete assets.

Perhaps create a new fiscal year in GL?

Unfortunately, this appears to be ALL assets. I saw this KB entry before - should have mentioned that. Is there any backdoor way of fixing that does not involve recreating all assets?

Sorry, I've not seen this error before... so not aware of one.

The fixed asset people seem to be a ""little"" more on the ball tech wise that Sage support. Have you tried them?

Very weird. I also have a customer that is getting this error message today. @Beth, were you able to fix this?

The error message should provide the System Number of the asset giving the error. We followed @Mark's instructions above and replicated the asset - open the asset giving the error and go to Asset/Replicate. This will attach a new asset system number to the asset and inactivate the old number. Then able to post. Luckily, we were just having an issue with one asset.
