Have a client very interested in using TimeCard to enter job cost payroll daily entries. I have a question about the logistics of data entry. How can users enter their time easily without requiring a large number of additional user licenses, and also have security to only allow access to TimeCard? What are other companies doing?

I have a client using Time Card and I am not a big fan of it. I know it is coming in the business framework supposedly this month. Instead of buying more licenses they have people now entering in excel and I created an import job. Security can definitely be locked down. I would also suggest reaching out to Sierra Workforce regarding their Time and Attendance software that can be accessed online and integrates with Job Cost and Payroll. You can call Mike Christiansen @ 800-822-0973 or Mike@sierraWS.com. My client will most likely switch to this solution.

The March release of TimeCard will have the same requirement for additional user licenses, but the June release is planned to have mobile entry options for employees. I don't know how they plan to handle licensing.

You can setup a shortcut directly to TimeCard that only allows for punching in and out. A Sage user license is still required for each logged in workstation/user. We have utilized Microsoft Access with links to Payroll and Job Cost for punching in and out, then importing into TimeCard to avoid user license fees. For users on mobile devices we had a developer write a web app that feeds SQL. We update SQL with Employee, Jobs and Cost Codes to only allow valid entries. Time entries can then be imported back into Sage.
