Have a client trying to make the following fields required in Customer Maintenance: Phone Fax Email address URL Is there some trick to this? I thought we'd just have to check the ""required"" box, but it doesn't appear to be working as I would have expected. Suggestions?

Are you doing this under the advanced options in custom office.

have to right click on the table and go into advanced field settings and set each one there

Have to go to UDF and Table Maintenance, select the table and then the Advanced Field Settings button to get at this. In there you can add these fields and select the required flag.

You should also consider that requiring this information seems like a good idea however if the person doing the data entry does not have the info to enter you are likely to see dummy data going into those fields. On the surface requiring these items seems like a great idea. It may however be a better idea to create some type of NAG script to remind the person that they haven't entered the info - and are they sure they want to leave it blank?

Yes true @WayneSchulz , I did make a similar comment when I passed on the info. They have a tendency to go ""hard"" then find that they can't manage it and have to find the ""easier"" alternative. Thanks for the reminder though.
