Have a client on 2017 Standard looking at 100c Advanced due to performance and stability issues. They have 34 legal entities. I see if we move them to 2018, that introduces a whole new payroll module. 1) About how long does the conversion process take to convert pre 2018 payroll to the new version? I see it has to be done one company at a time. 2) Do you know if you purchase a 100c license, can you install a 2017 version? I'd rather not mix the potential new payroll module headaches with the Advanced platform upgrade at the same time.

The last many upgrades I've done, the keys were specific to the version being installed. Sage did issue new keys for a different version, if needed. Upgrading to Payroll 2.0 takes a couple/few ""extra"" hours, especially the first time.

We are in the process of upgrading a client with 100+ PR companies to 2018 from 3.71. We've completed the test conversion phase for all the companies and we have about 25 hours of our time into it. We think the job will be completed in 40. they are doing some of the grunt work of the conversion.

Michelle, If the client has 39 companies, say with 20 employees each, does it take 'a few extra hours' per company, or is it just in general? Alan, what percent of your 40 hours is Payroll, versus everything else? Thanks.

@MarkChinsky - Rally depends on how different your 39 companies are AND how many employees you have and how much history there is to convert.. If they are all in the same state, all have the same earning/deduction codes, the set up can carry across all companies. If you PR forms have been modified, those will take some set up time. More so if you have 39 forms to create. It is not a slam dunk, but there is a lot changing.
