Has anyone written a crystal report against all companies? For instance, show me the GL trial balances for all companies.

I did a long time ago. It required a DSN to be setup for all companies. Today I would look to see what their Sage Intelligence licensing is and do it there. You will have lower administration (until Sage dissolves its relationship/ownership of Alchemex).

Yes, using an MS Access database to merge the tables of multiple companies with an added field for company code.

I've done the multi-company consolidations for customer with 23 companies and I can tell you there are some definite issues with Sage Intelligence and consolidations - you can't use the *edit* task pane designer or trees reliable for example. If you go that route, just be aware that odd things occur with accounts repeating for the number of consolidations included in a FS. Since you can't use the designer reliable, be prepared to update the FS template for any account changes.

I've used MS Access to automatically consolidate over 200 companies in just a few minutes setup.

I've done it with Access and SQL.

I do it all the time with F9, as long as it's just GL data you need.
