Has anyone worked with MICR font and crystal reports? I read that you have to download it, but that's about as much as I can find. Can anyone give me more insight on what I need to do to a deposit slip using this font? The client has a MICR printer, however will be printing from a terminal server. Do I just need to install the font on the terminal server then and it will show up in the font list in Crystal Reports? Does anyone know what the name of the font is and where a safe place to get it from would be?

The Micr font needs to be installed on each Sage 100 workstation that needs to print Micr encoding.

And once the font is installed, edit the Crystal .rpt and set the Micr fields to the new Micr font.

Pretty much sums it up. If you are printing checks, you need to make sure the printing is in the ""zone"". You can overlay it on a preprinted check or buy a plastic template to verify the exact location. You DON'T need magnetic toner but you DO need to be careful of where it prints.

@JeffSchwenk, I thought there were still some banks that require magnetic toner?

Perhaps in the back woods of the far north.......... The majors (BOFA, BBT, Wells Fargo, etc.) don't. Pretty much most have switched to optical processing.

Also, if you install eFiling (Aatrix) the MICR fonts are installed automatically. You only need to do this once then grab the font files from the workstation and ditribute as needed.

Always advise my clients to check with their bank regarding magnetic toner... but, most do not anymore

The regulations for Check 21 has pretty much forced financial institutions to electronic scanning rather than magnetic, even here in the back woods of the far north.
