Has anyone used Starship 11 with the pure BOI interface ? Thoughts? I have a client going to version 11 and they're asking which interface. We are having V-Tech manag the upgrade.

No I haven't, not yet. But I will have one later this year.

There's a Starship webinar now to review the interface.

Just sat through the review and I like it. It appears faster than Starship 10; allows user to ship & invoice directly from Starship; changes to shipments are written back to the invoice; pulls item info into shipment and uses drag & drop to move items between boxes; can map UDF's to shipment; can customize packing list in Starship and print a MAS 90 form after shipment is processed (probably the invoice); can have up to 5 e-mail addresses in Quantum Notify; Lot/Serial distribution is done in Starship. Starship Freight works similarly. ShipGear integration is similar, but does NOT create the MAS 90 invoice. They were unable to confirm if making changes to items (such as adding new items, changing warehouse code or selecting alternate items) is allowed.

V-Tech didn't really encourage the BOI interface. It might be that it's too new and they're not yet as comfortable.

I got the opposite impression. Bottom line, there's two interfaces: The interafce is as you described. All functionality is handled outside of MAS90 using BOI. Limited scanning - only order number. Does not require Starship Link. Can map additonal fields and UDfs. The other interface integrates just as V9 did, through Shipping Data Entry. This provides the functionality of packing using the barcode scanner, etc. However, at this point they don't have anyone to take over development of the Starship Link beyond 4.4. So, unless you need scanning, I would recommend the Starship interface.

@BillPfahnl My thought was to gravitate toward BOI for the same reason - eventually the link may go away if there's not a developer found to upgrade it. Ultimately I'll give the client the options and let them pick. My gut says they'll stay with Starship Link for the quick and easy upgrade -- however it's probably wiser to migrate since they do not scan or do anything advanced.
