Has anyone tried to use DFDM to enter a value in PO_Options for number of days to keep completed orders larger than 999. I modified it to 9999 and everything still seems to work ok when running period end and it did retain the older completed orders. Are there other gotchas that I am forgetting about?

Wow, I'm interested in hearing the long term result of this. Have one client who would probably buy me a house in the Hamptons if that worked. Or at least say Thank You and mean it.

Makes me wonder if this would work in A/R or A/P for ""days to retain paid invoices"".

According to the File layout table, that field is only three characters. It is interesting how you are allowed to expand it without impunity.

Changed my Days to Retain Paid Invoices in AR to 9999 in DFDM. AR Options shows it but throws an error upon exit. Same for AP Options.

We too have a client interested in maintaining his completed PO's longer that the 999 days. In fact it is a requirement in the industry thus the need to change it to a higher number. The only other option is to not run the Purchase Order period end. We have tested this as much as you can consider working with the ABC company data as a test and found it to work fine on newly created PO's dated in 2001. The PO's were received and invoiced and thus completed. PO's were not purged from the system until I dropped the days to 1200 (still more that the current limit of 999). Our client has opted to go ahead with this changed setting. I suppose it will work until Sage decides to enforce the limit. Please don't ask them too. PS In AP and AR even though we can't change those limits the data still exists in the history files. That can't be said for the PO data.

Is there any talk of PO History being resolved in v5.0 late this year?

When I was at Summit this past year, Sage held a little focus group so we could write down reasons why we thought P/O history would be beneficial. Yes, really.

I am sure they have marketing surveys which indicate what the next big push will be.......... I was in a focus group session also where all the questions were leading toward PO improvements plus tablet stuff. But that easel flip chart was probably tossed also.

THIS is what users want"" versus ""THIS is what we can add to the software for the lowest cost"" ?

So - We still have to settle for temporary work around?

So it seems there used to be an extended solution to allow upto 9,999 days. PO-1120 Maybe its not a big streach afterall to have period end work fine after manually changing the setup option.
