Has anyone seen Sales Order Tier Distributions for lot/serial items being ""left behind"" for items that are not shipped?
Client is on Version 2017 PU4; they use the feature to distribute lots during Sales Order data entry. We are finding records in the table SalesOrderTierDistribution left behind for sales orders that no longer exist. We can see these orders/lines in history but the ""left over"" records in the distribution table are for lines that were not shipped. At this point we are in the early stages of researching how this happened, all we know right now is the records are there for lines that were never shipped. we are not sure if the lines were backordered and later the order was deleted or if the lines were not shipped and backorder qty was changed to zero. The kicker is that if you rebuild sort files for inventory and answer YES to recalculate lot/serial commitments the routine still sees the commitments even though there is no
This part of the issue seems like a bug, and if so, has someone else run into this before I spend a lot of time testing to verify how/why these tiers are orphaned?
The same client is also having an issue where they have items committed on a sales order, and during a physical count and found they did not exist; physical count lets them zero out the quantity for a lot. Effectively leaving a negative available on a lot. This doesn't seem like a ""bug"" but more of a procedural issue on the client's end that they need to make sure inventory is correct before committing items. However, it does raise the question of how committed items on a sales order should be handled when you ""freeze"" inventory for a physical count.
