    Has anyone received clarification from Sage about v4.5 and more specifically whether there will be an IRD so that v4.5 can communicate with eFiling. I'm not sure that IRD will be needed but one is listed for all other versions. Seems odd that Sage would update 4.5 to handle ACA but not provide support for the filing.

    According to the attached document, I don't think it's supported.

    This seems really confusing and messed up. According to the attached (updated) year-end doc, a client on 4.5 can process W2 and ACA 1094/1095 forms for 2015 if you're on PU8, but it appears you can't process 1099's if running 4.5 and it appears the year-end IRD only applies to 1099's (but not for 4.5). We have a client who's running 4.5.7 with several major Enhancements, and therefore it's expected to be a rather involved process to get them to .8. Plus we're just about in the process of upgrading them to 2014.6 (of which their Enhancements were developed for .6) although that document says you need to be on 2014.7. What are we expected to do? I also noticed that doc says 2015.3. I just upgraded a client to 2015.2. Does that mean we now have to scramble to get these applicable clients up to PU3? That seems crazy, plus at least some of these clients have Enhancements. So it almost seems like we need to kinda ignore it and hope for the best?

    I think you have to be at whatever PU Sage is indicating. At least that's what I've had to do for several of the past years just to get IRD installed. From what I remember the routines check the PU levels.

    Also, is item # 7 about 1094/1095 B forms a misprint. It seems to leave out 2013 from the ability to print those form...

    Until this mess is worked out, just install a 2015 or 2016 copy of Sage 100 on their system. Once payroll is done for the quarter, just copy and convert the payroll data to the new version and run your forms from there.

    Sounds like a good idea, @BillPfahnl, although maybe not so much for heavily-customized systems, especially those with Payroll-related enhancements. But I wonder, for this purpose, if we'd be okay just installing the standard Sage 100 software without the client's enhancements. And I still don't understand why Sage has apparently made it so you can do W-2's and ACA on 4.5 but not 1099's. Maybe because they didn't want to have to create the IRD (which appears to only relate to 1099's) for 4.5? And maybe they at least decided to support W-2's/ACA for 4.5?

    Just came across this note on Sage's 'Sage 100 Supported Versions' doc (attached, as of 11-20-15): ""_** Sage will release the last product update for Sage 100 versions 4.50 and 2013 (5.0) to enable the recording of Payroll data for the Affordable Care Act (ACA), in November 2015._"" So that would appear to partially answer my confusion/question above re: why Sage addressed W-2's and ACA for 4.5 but not 1099's. The other reason being that 4.5 is retired. However, it would seem that you'd still need to get off of 4.5 at some point in the beginning of 2016 in order to install the 2016-Q1 TTU, although I suppose it's possible that even though the TTU isn't expected to be released for 4.5 (v2013+), it may still be able to be installed on 4.5. We all go thru this every year and I can never remember (and of course Sage could always just decide to change the routine) - but I'm not sure we can take that chance at this point. I also noticed that you apparently need to be at 2014.7 or higher in order to process 1094/1095 **""B""** forms, as @WayneSchulz alluded to above.

    A couple points on 4.5 -- As I understand - V 4.50 -- ACA forms = yes V 4.50 -- 1099 Forms = NO (Requires IRD which won't be issued) V 4.50 -- W2 Forms = NO (Requires IRD which won't be issued) V 4.50 -- TTU = NO (Could manually load to tax table maintenance) Essentially all that 4.5 will be able to do is ACA forms -- though I'm not certain how you enable eFiling for ACA but not W2 or 1099 (?)

    @WayneSchulz, W2 Forms = YES (doesn't require IRD) 1. What do I need to do in order to process W2 and ACA1094/1095 forms for 2015? a) You must be on one of the following required Sage 100 version and appropriate product update, if you do not have the applicable product update installed, please go to the Sage 100: Download portal to access the appropriate required download: ? 2016 (5.30.0.0)** ? 2015 PU 3 (5.20.3.0) ** ? 2014 PU 7 (5.10.7.0) ? 2013 PU 9 (5.00.9.0) ? 4.50 PU 8 (4.50.0.8) b) Install the year end eFiling (Aatrix) update. The year end eFiling update will be released on Friday, December 18th. When you access any of the eFiling and Reporting menu tasks, you will prompted to install an ""Automatic Update"", this will update all applicable form changes.

    @WayneSchulz, just to confirm, you agree with both my updates?: V 4.50 -- W2 Forms = YES (doesn't require IRD) V 4.50 -- 1094/1095 **""B""** forms = NO

    Yes. Item #7 of the FAQ seems to say that 1095-B won't work for 4.5 though I'm unsure why or if that is a misprint on the FAQ.

    @WayneSchulz, v2013 isn't listed either in #7

    I just have to wonder, could Sage make this any more confusing. I'm with the rest of you not understanding why Sage could make the ACA forms work in 4.5, but not the 1099 files. You don't need tax tables to issue a 1099-MISC.

  • 18.  RE: Has anyone received clarification from Sage about

    Posted 12-17-2015 15:55
    It is my understanding that the IRD is also needed for payroll.

  • 19.  RE: Has anyone received clarification from Sage about

    Posted 12-17-2015 19:14
    Long thread so someone may have already stated this but its my understanding there is no IRD for v4.50 only 5.0, 5.1, 5.2 there's also no IRD for 5.3. Also there's very few program changes in the IRD which only effects 2 of our enhancements (both AP enhancements) So it doesn't appear that the IRD is very important for payroll - there's no payroll changes in the IRD. I don't have any documentation on what this IRD actually does I just know what programs they are changing in the upcomming IRD (which again - is very minimal).

    The IRD source code just got released to MDs but there is no installation disk to download for anybody yet. That and the IRD instructions should be available shortly. Like Nicole said v2013,2014,2015 only and no P/R changes (no W-2 or eFile W-2 changes). Only changes to A/P I can see are : 1) 1099 Payment History within Vendor Maintenance. New fields for INT and DIV forms. 2) 1099 eFiling and Reporting changes for same new fields. It's Aatrix still and Aatrix year end download is supposed to be in effect on 12/18. You access by choosing Form 1099 eFiling and Reporting from AP / Reports menu. ** Remember like before if you're on MAS 200 and Aatrix doesn't fire up (happens with 32-bit o/s for server and 64-bit o/s for wkstn), just start up MAS 90 style. I can't figure out if you have to be on latest product update to install IRD. Pending KB on IRD instructions should indicate that.

    just to test, one of our consultants installed the 2016 TTU on version 4.5 locally, it let us do it and it seems to have update the tax tables properly.

    Mmmm. Interesting. Perhaps they are don't care about looking down the TTU's for the new PR M&S expiration keys...

    FWIW, employers under 250 EEs for 2014 don't have to populate W2s with health care costs (code DD in Box 12). https://www.irs.gov/uac/Employer-Provided-Health-Coverage-Informational-Reporting-Requirements:-Questions-and-Answers.

    - Re: #1 on the FAQ doc, apparently that's referring to ""W2 and ACA forms"" _together_, not separate which is how I was reading it. My initial understanding was that you needed to be on the listed PU's in order to properly generate W2's. But I'm told that's not the case if for example you just need to do W2's without ACA considerations - if that even would make sense. - I'm told there were only changes made to the 1099-INT form (and no changes to MISC or DIV) - unless I'm getting INT and DIV mixed-up. So if just need to do 1099-MISC, you're fine on 4.5; no IRD needed/applies. - Apparently there's a new Sage KB article #49810.

    I have both 2015 and 4.5 on my laptop. I downloaded the updated forms from within my 2015 version. I tested going into 4.5 and it did let me access the program but in DEMO mode. I think that unless interest payments are being reported, clients should be able to generate 1099's for misc and div for 2015. I think AATRIX uses a common set of forms across versions. I wish I would have tried updating AATRIX 4.5 before downloading the forms from 2015. Also my 4.5 says DEMO mode and I am not sure if I could get rid of that in a live version. Bottom line is 4.5 clients not wanting to update can roll the dice now and either do 1099's outside of the system or upgrade if AATRIX doesn't work before the end of January.
