Has anyone moved a client from MAS 200 to MAS 200 SQL? There isn't a 'business need' perse at this ponit.. But I have a customer looking to learn what some of the main advantages are. Curious if anyone has seen a true increase in performance and other input. Thanks,

I have not however from what I've heard the speed is NOT faster and there are several caveats - mostly that non-framework modules are not compatible and neither is FRX or F9 or Business Alerts. I think there may be one or two other things. Oh and it is more expensive but seems to have greater limitations - unfortunately it seems like mostly a sale for a customer whose IT department requires SQL (and the customer can fit in the parameters of MAS 200 SQL).

I had to tell a customer yesterday that no, they cannot have the SQL version (because they run work order and MRP). They thought they could maybe do without MRP, but didn't want to give up work order and were disappointed.

Definitely no increase in performance. Our folks have been running 4.45 since October and have been happy with it. They moved from 3.74 so SQL is a must for them for integration and reporting needs.

I have a customer who migrated from SQL 3.74 to SQL 4.45 then to SQL 4.50 and another customer who was a start-up who went fresh on SQL 4.45. Since both are smaller companies, I cannot compare performance.

We are looking at moving some clients to 4.50 SQL. Has anyone had any other experiences whether good or bad with going to SQL since February?

For me, 2 conversions from 3.74 SQL to 4.45 SQL (one being for John Shaver's client) and 1 from 4.40 pvx to 4.50 SQL. I've found everyone's experience to be roughly the same which is no increase in performance (which it can't by it's design) but at the same time it's fairly reasonable. To ensure that, in all 3 cases the App Server and SQL Server were on the same box, the box was overloaded with many processors and RAM, and SQL Server was configured to use max 2/3 of the system RAM (otherwise it consumes almost all RAM and not enough may be left over for App Server). I think most important thing is to set client's expectation that it won't be as fast as their current MAS 200 but conducive to reporting and integration needs and that should be main consideration in purchasing decision.

I have a prospect asking about SQL version - Any new thoughts on this? is there actually a degradation in speed? I know not all modules are available with the SQL version. Does anyone out there have any new experiences with this? based on the feedback it does not sound like there are many installations so far. (I know we don't have ANY yet.

on a scall of 1-10 is it full of bugs or is performance the main issue? How bad is the performance?

No bugs that we've run into. My experience is that it is about the same speed as 3.74.

I did convert a customer from 4.4 to 4.5 SQL. They also integrate with CRM, and although they were aware that there were no advantagtes to to speed or performance , chose to go through with this because they seem to have so many data problems. They have seen less issues with their data since the upgrade and the problems they have had have been easier to troubleshoot with SQL. Another reason that motivated them was their integration with a third party services manager application that is SQL based as well.
