Has anyone had any experience with a product named 'Docufit'? Perhaps integration with Sage 100?

Not sure exactly, just got a request from an accountant friend... He wants a lot more accounting functionality than the product offers and was hoping it might integrate easily with Sage 100

Got this from my accountant friend... ""If you were going to recommend an accounting package for a ""job shop"" manufacturing firm that has revenues of nearly 20 million and About 100 employees that can be customized especially for purchase/work orders and inventory (parts) what would you consider? "" My knee jerk thought is Sage 100c w/ manufacturing ... i.e. Job Ops - currently they are trying to make Quickbooks Enterprise work and are less than happy... Not exactly sure where or how 'Docufit' is used or thinking of being used, but it is a document image management system... My feeling is that they use this more for the documents relating to each 'Job' and less about capturing images of accounting documents, but it could also be both, I suppose.... Thoughts?

It's not entirely clear to me what your accountant friend is requesting. Do they want a package to handle only the accounting and integrate to Docufit? Do they want an entirely new system to replace Docufit? You should connect with @BradKain if your evaluation will include packages outside the Sage world.

It's time for a paid assessment with the user, not the accountant. (IMO, most CPA BS their way through manufacturing issues.) It sounds like the Docufit is part of the manufacturing duct-tape-and-baling-wire solution they have for QB. If they drop QB, why make Docufit a requirement?

@JerryNorman makes an excellent point. Running a 100 employee Job shop oriented company on QB Enterprise is certainly a challenge and it seems that they have grown the business but not made an investment in the infrastructure to keep pace. Job Ops with 100c is certainly a great solution but unless someone is really experiencing the pain AND has access to cash, getting the processes and PEOPLE in place to make any software a success will be a challenge. If they aren't willing to pay for an assessment, I fear failure is in the future..

These are guys are probably losing >$100k/yr on busted job quotes, lost inventory, scheduling snafu's, etc. That's probably affecting cash flow, in addition to profitability. You need to find out why they are looking now, and who's driving the search. If you have a new Mfg Mgr, Controller/CFO or COO, walk; they won't go through with the change pain required.
