Has anyone had an issue where a customer paid a penalty to renew because they were a month late and Sage still uses the old renewal date despite being paid in full plus a penalty? Here's the explanation I got: Good Morning Wayne, If the customer does not go beyond 90 days off plan, they will keep their original renewal date.

I haven't experienced it but that is the way I understood it.

Yes, I have dealt with that scenario before, and that is the way I understood it to work as well. In the times I have dealt with it, I have been able to get Sage to waive the late fee or my customer didn't renew. Then, as with everything Sage does, the customer got a better deal to get back on plan beyond the 90 days off plan. Makes perfect sense, no?

In the past, as I understand, Sage had an implied grace period. Apparently this recently changed and Sage is adhering to the penalty. I have no issue with that. I do have an issue with collecting a penalty and not adjusting the expiration date. I will let the customer write the check directly to Sage in the future so that my name isn't on the payment should the customer have a question about this policy. In genera,l I'd probably advise off-plan customers to stay off-plan until a good promotion comes along. Once this regime finishes their three years we'll see what the next set establish as the new ""customer for life"" policy.

I believe it depends on whether you are referring to a *late* penalty or a *reinstatement* fee. The penalty is simply that, a penalty. The reinstatement will adjust the expiration date. Dammit, @WayneSchulz , now you have me sounding like I am defending those bloodsuckers! :-)

yes - that has always been the rule. It is at Reinstatement, which is typically after 90 days, that they reset their renewal.
