Has anyone had a client on that needs to process employees in both weekly and bi-weekly pay cycles? In 2018 it seems that the work around is to change the pay cycle each time in employee maintenance and I wondered if I'm missing something. TIA.

Each batch in Payroll Data Entry can only be assigned one pay cycle in v2018. Therefore, turn on batch processing in Payroll Options to allow for multiple batches and set up one batch for weekly and one for bi-weekly. But, you would need to process each batch separately, since each batch would have a different pay cycle, and therefore the tax calculation would be different.

@ Sue Wolf, I found the information about batch processing too, but when I tested this, it said I could not do a bi-weekly payroll for an employee with a weekly status. I think the resolution you are referring to is so that you can process a weekly and bi-weekly payroll at the same time but isn't applicable if the same employee needs to be in both batches. If I'm missing something let me know. Thanks!

You're correct that the employee's pay cycle has to match the pay cycle in the batch. Therefore, if the employee needs to be processed in both pay cycles, then your workaround may be the only way to do this.
