Has anyone ever seen this: with Crystal 11.5, export records to a text file. Use VI to try to import the data and it claims the first record is invalid. It seems to see some odd jumbled field there. Go into the file in notepad, copy all text, paste into another text file and save and all is good. This has happened to me twice now. This seems to be a Crystal 11.5 thing.

I had a problem with text - client was told by the bank that their file was Unicode instead of ASCII, and it was. Looks the same to the casual viewer, though. They have really screwed up the exports over the years - worked so much better in 8.5!

We found when exporting to text that we had to pick a text spacing size that was the highest. Unfortunately I don't remember the prompt.

I have tried this on several customers and found it to be a problem. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one, but I would sure like to know how to fix it.

On, and re that text spacing size - I just had one where I had to use something like 60 CPI as the selection - the older Crystal used to show 16 as the max, but you can manually type in higher in the new version.
