I know that running the 32 to 64 bit conversion utility is no big deal. While preparing for a recent upgrade one major ISV told my customer " Yes, our products are compatible with the 64bit version of Sage. As an aside, if you running 32bit and want to update to 64bit (while not part of a full Sage upgrade), it will necessitate reinstalling all of our software. "
It seems like there is another question we should be asking ISVs aside from "are you 64-bit compatible?"
1. Do we have to do anything except run the 32 to 64-bit utility? Is a complete reinstall of your enhancement necessary if we upgrade to 64-bit outside of our normal upgrade cycle?
A better plan is probably to go 64-bit on a new server and avoid any plans to run the 32 to 64 switch utility during the upgrade process ( because you might be surprised to learn one or more enhancements need a full reinstallation - which is especially distressing if you then have to reschedule the ISV to do a reinstall).
