Had a discovery call with client who is currently on MAS 200 4.30. They are deciding on an upgrade between 4.50 pvx and 4.50 SQL. One of the talking points was FRx. They are on version 6.7.something and it is a ""must"" for the accounting dept to retain FRx. On the next call I'll get into non-FRx options for them but for time being am wondering: 1) If they upgrade to 4.50 pvx, how does one point FRx to the new location - is it just a matter of adjusting a DSN or does it also involve FRx re-installation and/or compacting spec set, exporting reports / row formats, rebuilding GL indexes, blah blah blah? 2) If they go to 4.50 SQL, can FRx even work? According to Integrated Solutions Matrix for 4.50, even with 6.7 SP 11 it is not supported (but does that mean it won't work?) Has anyone has tried it?

FRX will not work with 4.50 SQL. PVX is the only game for FRX. The best option is Renovofyi if they want SQL.. The FRX should migrate very well.

V4.50 PVX will work out of the box with FRX. No changes or reinstallation necessary. . Whatever MAS was last used will dictate the MAS used in FRX. (due to SOTAMAS DSN) If they use a custom DSN the DB location that controls it

@JimWoodhead This is not entirely true - I believe with FRX on v4.5 you must run the latest FRX SP (11?) which thankfully is still posted online. From what I remember if you don't run the latest SP you get the generic 8900 error. I do think at this point in the game I'd guide them to make a switch to an FRX replacement or at least put the thought in their head.

Your are correct Wayne. SP11 is required but I guess I assumed everyone is on SP11 because it is required for Win7. But once you have SP11. Frx is compatible with 4.3 and 4.5 interchangeably .
